Advice with Teeth
I saw Daymond John’s keynote presentation at the recent conference held by the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) in San Diego. His advice can make a difference in so many ways, and I even apply it to planning for college.
John is described as an entrepreneur, investor, author, television personality and motivational speaker, but that doesn’t describe his humor, candor and humanity. As the founder and CEO of the iconic fashion brand, FUBU, some of John’s success – as for everyone – is due in part to being in the right place at the right time, but he has a remarkable story of hard work, risks and persistence.
A regular member of the cast of the television show, Shark Tank, John’s presentation was built around the “Five Shark points.” Take note:
S – Set goals (don’t be timid);
H – Homework (do your research and be prepared);
A – Adore (love what you do);
R – Remember, you are the brand; and
K – KEEP SWIMMING!
Good advice for all of us as we counsel families on how to reach financial goals such as college savings, retirement income, a new home or anything else!
