Agnes Scott College
“Agnes Scott is a college you have to see to believe,” according to Colleges That Change Lives.
And who are we to argue?
Spend four years with brilliant women who won’t suffer fools, stand for injustice or tolerate prejudice; with confident women who never settle; with women who question, confront and debate.
Study with professors who will help you when you call, push you to the limits and then challenge you again. Their research garners attention around Atlanta, the Southeast and the world, including recent articles in The New York Times and The Washington Post.
Gain experience through research projects, internships with Fortune Global 500 companies and nonprofits big and small, and explore the world through study abroad and service opportunities – all through Agnes Advantage.
After four years at Agnes Scott, you will never be the same. You will be a better you: more reflective, more intelligent, more cultured, more prepared for the world.
If this interests you, read on, future Scottie.
Agnes Scott College embraces the liberal arts approach to learning. As a student, you’ll read as widely as possible, write as much as you can, discuss and debate until your mind is ready to fall apart at the seams. And then you’ll make connections between and across everything you’re studying – no matter your major.
Your professors will expect as much from you as the world expects from you. In other words: a lot. Agnes Scott professors believe in you. They believe enough to push you to be your best, to help you realize your potential, to prepare you for a world that will expect your best form the get-go.
The Agnes Scott Advantage
Our alumnae often refer to their Agnes Scott experience as transformative. That’s the power of a small liberal arts college in a large metropolitan city – but don’t take our word for it. Read our profile in Colleges That Change Lives (Penguin Books, 2012). The campus community offers a supportive environment that allows each student to find her voice and pursue her passions.
Our students work closely with faculty and other students, develop their own research projects and present interdisciplinary projects during our Spring Annual Research Conference. Leadership opportunities are plentiful too, in campus organizations and through programs like Emerging Leaders, Mortar Board and Student Government. And we’ll help you explore the world, whether you want to cross an ocean (or dive into one) or dig into your local community.
Make Atlanta Your Home
The Agnes Scott campus is located in Decatur, Georgia, an intimate community just 6 miles from downtown Atlanta. Our students enjoy the quaint Decatur square, which features great restaurants and local shops, all just a few minutes’ walk from campus. The square includes the Decatur MARTA station (Atlanta’s public transportation system), connecting our students to all that Atlanta has to offer, from internships and concerts to shopping, cultural attractions and the world’s busiest airport. With more than a dozen Fortune 500 companies headquartered here (including some Global 500s too) and an airport that offers direct flights to 150 U.S. cities and more than 50 countries, the world is literally at your fingertips – or footsteps.
If you’ve read this far, why not plan a campus visit? We’d love to meet you, and as the opening quote says, Agnes Scott is just one of those schools you have to visit. Can’t make the trip (or want to get a feel for campus first)? Check out our virtual tour – then schedule an in-person visit. We hope to see you soon!
